Massive fuel spill cleanup underway in Resolute

A spill cleanup is underway in Resolute, Nunavut, after the communitys fuel tank farm spilled about 100,000 litres of fuel.

Government of Nunavut officials say the spill is now being contained and cleaned up.

The government said its been difficult to get detailed information about the spill because of the darkness this time of year.

The spill reportedly happened sometime Friday, and RCMP are investigating the cause.

Officials say this should not affect the communitys gasoline supply for the year.

About 300 people live in the Arctic hamlet.
