Passenger, pilot found in good condition after plane crash in N.W.T.

Two people were found in good condition Friday, a day after the plane they were on crashed in the Northwest Territories.

Two people were found in good condition Friday, a day after the plane they were on crashed in the Northwest Territories.

Searchers had been looking for the plane near Gordon Lake, about 90 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife.

David Lavallee, public affairs officer with 1 Canadian Air Division, said a civilian helicopter found the survivors on a small island in Gordon Lake.

"The two people are alive and in good condition," he said.

The aircraft took off from the lake and wasreported missing when it failed to return Thursday afternoon.

Trenton Search and Rescue along withCivil Air Search and Rescue scoured the area.

"They searchedyesterdayafternoonand evening and didn't find anything," saidLavallee.

Lavallee said theaircraft was equipped with an emergency transponder, but search and rescue officials weren'treceiving any signals from the device.

The helicopter will bring the pilot and passenger to Yellowknife, Lavallee said.

There is a fishing lodge on Gordonlake. The operators of the lodge have declined comment.
