A 22-year-old Yellowknife woman who has been missing for over a weekhad somehow changed coats on the day she disappeared, according to police.

Yellowknife RCMP said Tuesday they believe Angela Meyer was wearing a red and black Arctic Winter Games volunteer jacket, not a white Helly Hansen coat as they had originally thought.

Meyer, who has mental illnesses and diabetes, was last seen outside her family's 54th Street house around 1:20 p.m. MT on Nov. 27.

Family members have told CBC News they are worried because Meyer was not properly dressed and she did not haveenough medication with her.

Meyer was home on a weekend pass from Stanton Territorial Hospital's psychiatric ward when she went missing. Her family said she had only enough insulin, anti-depressant and anti-psychoticmedicationto last the weekend.

Seemed disoriented

RCMP originally said Meyer was last seen wearing a white Helly Hansen winter coat, as well as black yoga pants, a black T-shirt, black socks and grey winter boots.

But on Tuesday, police said they have received a number of tips that suggest Meyer changed coats after she left her family's home.

"We've received four or five different tips of sightings in the Con Mine, Con Road and the Ptarmigan Road areas, and most of the people did advise that Ms. Meyer did appear to be in a disoriented state," Const. Kathy Law told CBC News.

"All of those tips did advise that she was wearing a different jacket than the one that was originally reported. It is now reported that she is wearing a red and black Arctic Winter Games volunteer jacket."

The reported sightings took place in the afternoon and early evening hours of Nov. 27, according to police.

Law said RCMP later found Meyer's white coat inside another residence, from which the warmer Arctic Winter Games jacket was taken. Law would not say whose home it was, or why Meyer had gone there.

Meyer is described as an Inuit woman who isabout five feet ten inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds.

The RCMP continue to search for Meyer. Anyone with information about her disappearance is urged to call the Yellowknife RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
