The Government of the N.W.T. and Canadian Zinc have signed an agreement to work together on upgrading roads near the Prairie Creek mine site.

The mine is in the Nahanni National Park Reserve.

Through the new initiative, the company and the Department of Transportation will identify areas of Highway 7 and the Nahanni Butte access road that need improvement.

Canadian Zinc plans to use those public roads to bring goods, fuel and equipment to the mine.

A spokesperson for the company said who will cover the costs of upgrades hasn't been discussed yet.
