N.W.T. man charged with 2nd-degree murder

A 34-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman in the isolated hamlet of Gameti, N.W.T., RCMP say.

Alice Black, 31,was found dead on Friday morning in the small community, about 240 kilometres north of Yellowknife.

Terry James Vital was arrested in Gameti the same day and taken to Yellowknife for questioning where he was later charged, police said.

Vital, who remains in police custody, is scheduled to appear in court in Yellowknife on Tuesday.

Black's body has been sent to Edmonton where an autopsy will be conducted to determine how she died, police said.
