Someone broke into a Department of National Defence compound at the Inuvik airport and briefly stole a truck last week.

Inuvik RCMP received a complaint on Oct. 7 about the incident, which happened between 3 and 4 a.m. that morning.

Police say there was an unauthorized entry into the compound.

"A person entered the compound and took a vehicle from a building on the compound, againwithout authorization," the RCMP wrote in a news release issued Friday, one week after the incident.

"Within a short timeframe, the vehicle was returned to the building."

Police say there was little damage to the compound and vehicle and nothing else was taken from the building.

RCMPare reviewingvideo surveillance footage but say they have not yet identified a suspect.
