No fraud at Salt River First Nation, RCMP conclude

N.W.T. RCMP say no charges will be laid following a year-long fraud investigation in relation to the Salt River First Nation.

'None of the allegations warranted criminal charges,' police say

N.W.T. RCMP say no charges will be laid following a year-long fraud investigation in relation to the Salt River First Nation.

The investigation began after a complaint of "financial irregularities" within the First Nation was reported to Fort Smith RCMP in June of last year, police say.

The complaint alleged financial mismanagement and misappropriation by former chiefs and councillors.

The investigation included a document review and interviews with more than 20 people.

It determined that "none of the allegations warranted criminal charges."
