The N.W.T.'s Northern Arts and Cultural Centre has released its 2016-2017 lineup.

"We try to have a roster full of the best established and emerging artists," said the organization's executive and artistic director, Marie Coderre.

Coderre said she is more than excited for all the artists who are scheduled to perform, but there are a few she is particularly eager to see.

"We are going to start the year with Jim Byrnes and the Sojourners, who is a blues legend musician alongside with real authentic gospel.

"You're going to have the Ballets Jazz de Montral.

"There will also be a play called 'Call Mr. Robinson' which is about the black opera singer and advocate, and the story is about how... as soon as he started to be too outspoken, how it affected his career."

NACC operates a 297-seat theatre facility located in Yellowknife, but people outside of the capitol will be able to take in shows as well.

"We're going to be touring all across the territory, going to the five regions, and we're going to presenting 20 shows in the communities, and we always stop in the schools as well," said Coderre.

On Aug. 19, tickets will be made available to the general public and are available on the NACC's website.
