"I think everybody knows our approach to these hotels; they've watched us since 2006," said Rich Thompson, president of Northern Vision.

"We buy the hotels and we put substantial capital expenditures in to improve the quality of the rooms."

Thompson said the company plans to take advantage of the 32-room hotels Main Street location.

"It's fantastic and we think that there's lots we can do to improve that property," he said.

Plans include revamping the food and beverage service, which Thompson said had suffered from increased competition over the years.

Other Northern Vision properties in Whitehorse include the newly built Waterfront Station, and the old Canadian Tire store.

Thompson said the Canadian Tire location will be renovated this summer to allow for a variety of street-side stores and offices.
