Nunavik medical boarding home in Montreal to open in 2016

A long-awaited home for Nunavik medical patients travelling to Montreal is expected to open in December 2016.

New facility in Dorval will feature 91 rooms, 2 playgrounds and a chapel

A long-awaited home for Nunavik medical patients travelling to Montreal is expected to open in December 2016.

Maggie Putulik, who works in patient services withNunavik'sregional board ofHealth and Social Services, says construction ofthe facilityshould be completed by October 2016.

The four-floor building will belocated in theDorvalsuburb of Montreal.

"It will have a total of 91 rooms, including four huge rooms for multiple family members, 40 rooms with two beds, 35 single rooms and 12 for couples," said Putulik.

The building will also feature two playgrounds and a chapel.

Patients from Nunaviktravelling to Montreal for medical treatment currently stay at aYMCA.
