Nunavut byelection set for Sept. 12

Residents in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, will be going to the polls this fall to elect a new representative in the territorial legislature.

Residents in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, will be going to the polls this fall to elect a new representative in the territorial legislature.

A byelection in Pangnirtung will take place on Sept. 12, government officials announced Friday.

Information for potential candidates will be posted on Elections Nunavut's website in the coming months.

Voters will choose a new MLA to replace Adamee Komoartok, who resigned on March 15 amid controversy about an assault charge he faces.

Komoartok was charged earlier this month with assault causing bodily harm in connection with an alleged attack on his spouse, who was charged with assaulting Komoartok.
