Pangnirtung boy killed in dog attack

A four-year-old boy was mauled to death by three dogs in the Nunavut community of Pangnirtung this week, according to RCMP.

Police say the dogs somehow got free of their chain on Monday and attacked the boy, who was playing nearby.

By the time officers arrived, the boy was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the local health centre, RCMP said in a release Wednesday.

Police say the dogs were later found and destroyed. The incident is under investigation, and police did not release the boy's name.
