Peter Tumilty appointed interim head of Qulliq Energy Corp.

The Nunavut government has announced Peter Tumilty, current assistant deputy minister of Finance, will serve as the short-term president of Qulliq Energy Corp. while a competition gets underway to find a replacement.

The Nunavut government has announced that Peter Tumilty, current assistant deputy minister of Finance, will serve as the short-term president of Qulliq Energy Corp. while a competition gets underway to find a replacement.

Tumilty replaces Alain Barriault, who was appointed to the post last September, but as of Monday, is no longer with the Nunavut government.

Premier Peter Taptunaannounced his departurein a news releasewithout giving an explanation.

"I thank Mr. Barriault forhis service to the government in his previous positions," Taptuna said in the news release.

Barriault joined QEC following more than a year of turmoil, in which former president, Peter Mackeywas fired, and the chair and five board members resigned.

Audit reports from theQulliqEnergyCorp.arecurrently the subject of anRCMPinvestigation for potential criminal wrongdoing. The investigation came at the request of theNunavutgovernment in September 2014.

More shuffling

Taptuna announced one other staffing change Monday.

Virginia Lloyd, previously the executive director of strategic planning with the Department of Executive and Intergovernmental Affairs, is now an associate deputy minister in that department.
