3 passengers, 1 pilot suffer minor injuries after plane crash in Nahanni Butte, N.W.T.

Chief Peter Marcellais of the Nahanni Butte Dene Band confirms a plane went down in the community on Wednesday.

Raymond Kaslak, the senior administrative officer of the NahanniButte band, was near the scene. He said it happened at the airport, near the runway.

According to a spokesperson with theTransportation Safety Board, the Cessna went downat around 1:30 p.m. There wasone pilot and three passengers on board.

All four patients sustained minor injuries, said AlexFournier, whosaid the plane was headed fromNahanniButte to Fort Simpson.

Damien Healy, a spokesperson for the N.W.T.'s department of health, said in an email that the four patients "will be medevaced when possible to Stanton Territorial Hospital."

Based on the plane's registration, it is owned bySouth Nahanni Airways. A person who answered the phone at the airline said they had no comment.

Chief Marcellaissaid the planewas a tourist charter.

On Thursday, the TSB will interview the passengers and pilot. It will then decide what its involvement will be and whether investigators will need to travel to the community.

RCMPhas not yet provided comment on the crash.
