Pond Inlet man, Ruben Arnakallak, not guilty of murder

Ruben Arnakallak, 34, was accused of second-degree murder in the November 2011 death of his older brother, Esa Arnakallak. A judge and jury found him not guilty after a retrial in Pond Inlet.

In February 2013, Justice Andrew Mahar declared a mistrial.

Justice Neil Sharkey presided over Arnakallak's latest trial, which began in September.

The trial was scheduled to take three weeks, but due to a holiday, an illness and a death in the community, it took five.
