N.W.T. RCMP says search continues in Behchok area for missing man

In a news release issued on Monday morning, RCMP inBehchok say they are continuing to search for a missing man in the area.

RCMP inBehchok said on Mondaythat policeare continuing to search for a missing man in the area.

In a news release issued Monday morning, RCMP say Ralph Beaulieu, 54, was dropped offat his cabin south of Behchok on April 23 with aplan to go out on the land on April 29.

He sent an In Reachmessage to a friend onApril 29, informing them thathe had begun his trip, police said.

Beaulieuwas expected to be pickedup fromhis cabinon May 8, but wasnot there when thefriend went tomeet him.The friend called the police at midnight on May 9.

RCMP saidofficershiked to Beaulieu's cabin at 2 a.m. on May 9 and conducted an initial ground searchbut did not find him.

Police say they received a tip that Beaulieu was in the hospital, but when this tip was followed up on, it was determined that he had not attended the hospital.

The release saidthat police refocused the search back in the area of the cabin.

"Thesearch for Ralph Beaulieu is on-going with the assistance of CASARA(Civil Air Search and Rescue Association)and Yellowknife Ground Search and Rescue," RCMP spokesperson Matt Halstead said in the news release.

Anyone who has seen Beaulieu or may have picked him up on the highway south ofBehchok is asked to contact the Behchok RCMP.
