Police surrounded Iqaluit residence to catch wanted man: RCMP

RCMP vehicles blocked the road in two places at the entrance to Tundra Valley, a residential neighbourhood in Iqaluit, early Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple police officerswere on the scene, including some pointing rifles at a residence.

The road was open again within two hours, and police said in an email to CBCthere was "no ongoing incident" and there's "no cause for concern or issues."

In an update later Wednesday afternoon, RCMP saidthey had received information and believed that Iola Lucassie was inside theresidence in question.

Police said theysent out a news release last week, asking for the public's help locating Lucassie. The news release statedLucassiewas charged with assault causing bodily harm in relation to an incident that occurred at a residence in Iqaluit on Oct. 6.

RCMP said they closed off the road surrounding the residence in question, but Lucassie was not located, and there is still a warrant out for his arrest.

He's described as a five-foot-eight, 150-pound Inuk male with brown eyes and black hair
