It's duck hunting season in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, but hunters there are frustrated because the community hasn't received its supply of ammunition.

It's duck hunting season in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, but hunters there are frustrated because the community hasn't received its supply of ammunition.

Peter Kattuk says he is eager to get out duck hunting while the season is at its peak.

"It's really frustrating for us because every year we have a system and we rely on the bird for food," he said.

"The stores should be better prepared; it's truly frustrating."

Kattuk says duck hunting season usually ends the last week of November and he has asked the local Co-op to order in some ammunition before then.

Francois Brouillete, the Co-op's manager, says when the ammunitiondid not arrive by sealift, he made an order to arrive by airplane.Butthat could take another week as it's considered dangerous goods.

Sanikiluaq, located on the Belcher Islands off the east coast of Hudson Bay, is Nunavut's southernmost community.
