Darrell Pasloski, former leader of the Yukon Party, resigns following a massive Liberal victory in the 2016 Yukon territorial election.

Pasloski resigned as leader of the party in the aftermath of the 2016 territorial election, which saw the Yukon Party defeated by the territory's Liberal Party. Pasloski was defeated by a Liberal challenger in his riding of Mountainview.

Hassard will lead the Yukon Party as it transitions to opposition status after 14 years in power. He was first elected in 2011 and has served as Minister of Economic Development, Minister responsible for theYukon Housing Corporation, and Minister responsible for the Yukon Liquor Corporation.

The Yukon Party announced Hassard's appointment Thursday in a news release. The release also states that the "process and timeline" to select a new permanent leader will be determined at the party's Annual General Meeting, scheduled for Spring of 2017.
