More than 30 active cases have been diagnosed since last fall.

A portable X-ray machine will be sent to the community of about 650 to monitor the patients.

Elena Labranch, of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services, said a small number of tuberculosis infections have also been identified in other Nunavik communities of Umiujaq, Inukjuaq and Salluit.

However, she said those cases are either under control or have been treated successfully.
