Convicted sex offender Travis Casawaymust stay away from children under a order placed on him by the N.W.T. territorial court.
Yellowknife RCMP issued awarning Thursday about Casaway, who they said"poses a risk of significant harmto the public."Casaway, 27, hasconvictions for sexual assault and sexual assault with a weapon.
There are nine conditions Casaway must now abide by, including not havingcontact with any children under the age of 16 aside from family members. He must alsostay away from schools, parks, the pool, the public library and anywhere else where there are children under the age of 16.
He is also required to be of good behaviour and is not permitted to drink alcohol or go into a bar.
RCMP say anyone seeing Casaway break one of these conditions should call theYellowknife detachment. They also say making this information public "is not intended to encourage people to engage in any form of vigilante action."
Police also issued a second news release remindingthe public to take reasonable measures to protect their personal safety, including staying in well-lighted, high-traffic areas at night and, for parents, knowing the whereabouts of their children at all times.
