Whitehorse considers spending $40K on new 'muffin monster'

The City of Whitehorse is considering spending $40,000 to replace a piece of sewage treatment machinery.

One of the city's two "muffin monsters" has been broken since Labour Day weekend. Water and Waste Services manager DavidAlbissersays the "monsters" are grinders that grind up the solids that flow into the sewage station.

Albisser said the last major repairs were done seven years ago and the breakdown wasnot unexpected.

"They do a lot of work," he said.

Mayor Dan Curtis said it's not all Yukoners' fault.

"I am hesitant to actually say this but I just want to point out that for road traffic we did have over 300,000 people drive through Whitehorse and I am pretty sure we're a pretty premiere stop, if you know what I am not saying."

Council will consider the budget amendment.

One councillor asked if there was a two-for-onemuffin deal.
