Whitehorse hip hop artist got advice from David Bowie on movie set
'He told me to keep it up,' remembers Yudii Mercredi
An actor-turned hiphop artistfrom Whitehorse, Yukon, who shared screen-time with David Bowie in the 1998 Italianfilm Il mio West(Gunslinger's Revenge)recalls getting some friendly advice from the late music and film star, who passed away on the weekend.
Mercredi was six years old at the time, working on the Italian set of Gunslinger'sRevenge,in which Bowie played the villain.
"He said that I wasn't afraid to be in front of the camera," said Mercredi.
"Behind the scenes there's over a hundred people on the set. Sometimes it does get kind of nerve-wracking.
"What I remember, he told me to keep it up."
Bowie died of cancer on Sunday. He was 69.
