The Whistle Bend subdivision in Whitehorse is already a beehive of construction activity. Soon, it will be even busier.

On Friday, the Yukon government announcedanother land lottery for the development, makingroom for as many as 100 more homes.

"I've heard the comparison toValleyviewand with the construction going on and the release of these lots, it's the equivalent of threeValleyviews,so it's definitely a neighbourhood," said Colin McDowell, lands director for the territorialgovernment.

A construction boom in the past year has seen 70 per cent of lots in the Phase 1 of the subdivision's developmentsold. Phase 2 is half sold. There are still more than 100 properties unsold in the subdivision.

Prices for the new lots start at $115,000.

The latestsale includes lots for six multi-family buildings, and, for the first time in Whistle Bend, a commercial lot will beup for grabs.

"With a continuing care facility going in and the place being built out with houses, I think the market would see the opportunity," said McDowell.

McDowell said even if there's no interest in this latest lottery, it will meet agovernmentgoal of having a two-year supply of lots ready for sale.
