Wounded grizzly bear possibly found in Deep Creek area in Yukon

Environment Yukon says a grizzly bear that was shot in defence by a resident may have been found in the area of Deep Creek of Lake Laberge.

EnvironmentYukon says a grizzly bear that was shot in defence by a resident two weeks agomay have been found in the area of Deep Creek of Lake Laberge.

Conservation officers will be in the area Saturdaywith a bear trap to attempt to capture the bear.

The bear was reported loose north of Whitehorse on Sept. 12, in the area of the North Klondike Highway and 10 Mile Road.

A resident shot the bear in defence. Conservation officers weren't able to locate the animalat the time.

Residents are being asked to usecaution and not to approach the bear if they see it.

The Yukon government is also remindingYukonersto secure garbage and compost bins, as bears are actively foraging for food.
