Yellowknife RCMP seek public's help in investigating 4 stabbings

A series of assaults in Yellowknife over the past three weeks have RCMP seeking information from the public, as well as warning people not to intervene if they witness an attack.

A series of assaults in Yellowknife over the past three weeks have RCMPseeking information from the public, as well as warning peoplenot to intervene if they witness an attack.

According to an RCMP news release, police have received multiple reports of assaults in Yellowknifesince late October.

Police say there was a stabbing downtown October 27 and a robbery with a firearm October 28. One suspect has been arrested in relation with those two incidents, and charges are pending.

The release goes on to read that there were threemore incidents atdowntown apartment buildings November 13: one, an early morning report of a stabbing, and in the afternoon, two more reports of stabbings.

All three incidents are considered separate, according to the release.

"The persons involved in these incidents are known to police; suspects are still being sought," stated RCMP spokesperson Marie York-Condon.

"We do not believe that the general public is at an increased risk, however, it is always advisable to be aware of your surroundings and to not become involved in any incident you may witness.
