Yellowknife issues open air fire ban

The City of Yellowknife has issued an immediate mandatory open air burning ban due to extremely dry conditions.

The ban applies to all open air burning, including approved fire pits.

Officials with the city sayextremely dry conditionsare the reason for the ban.

So far this month, Yellowknife has had onemillimetre of rain. The city's usual average rainfall for May is 13.8millimetres.
