Yellowknife RCMP lay charges after string of drug busts
8 people face charges after 3 separate raids in the city on Tuesday
Yellowknife RCMP have charged eight people after a string of drug busts in the city Tuesday, whereofficers arrested16 people and seized drugs at three separate residences.
Seven men and one woman are now facing a slew of drug charges, including trafficking cocaine and marijuana. One person is also charged with obstructing a police officer.
All but one of the accused are from the Yellowknife area; the other is fromAlberta.
RCMP say the seizure included more than 100 individually packaged rocks of cocaine, fentanyl, a number of firearms, and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.
In a news release, RCMP say they've confirmed that three of those firearmsand an ammunition box with ammunition, were stolen duringa recent break and enter in Yellowknife.
The investigation isongoing.
RCMP sayfurther drug and weapons charges are pending, as well as charges related to the stolen firearms.
