Yellowknife RCMP order investigation into use of force complaint

YellowknifeRCMP haveasked an Alberta police service to investigate acomplaint against an officer.

The complaint stems from a prisoner search onJan.7in one of the detachment'scell blocks.

The allegation was made by a prisoner whosays anofficer used excessiveforce.

This is the second external investigation in fourmonths involvinginjuries sustained by prisoners inRCMP custody in Yellowknife.

Last Marcha woman was injured while in a cell. RCMP say she was alone at the time.

TheLethbridge Regional Police Service will conduct the investigation.
