A young Yellowknife woman is warning people to keep a close eye on their drinks when out at bars in the city, after she says she saw someone put something in her friend's drink.

The young woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she and her friend were chatting with a group of men at the Raven Pub last Saturday night. After a while, she and her friendmoved to the dance floor.

The woman says she turned around and saw one of the men put something in her friend's drink.

The woman confronted the men and reported it to the bartender. When the bouncer came to investigate, the men were gone.

The Raven Pub issued a statement saying, "We urge caution by all patrons at alldrinking establishments to report any suspicious persons to staff immediately. We cannot speak to the frequency of these eventsbut even one is too many."

The Yellowknife RCMP says there have been no reports in the last year of drug-induced sexual assault. But Cpl. Barry Ledoux says just because there have beenno official reports, doesn't mean it's not happening here.

"We know it's happening in other jurisdictions and across Canada," he said. "The message we'd like to get out is for people to watch out for each other."
