Yukon again tops in alcohol sales per capita

Yukon led the nation again last year in per capita alcohol sales, according to Statistics Canada.

Newfoundland and Labrador 2nd, N.W.T. and Nunavut a close 3rd

Yukon led the nation again last year in per capita alcohol sales, according to Statistics Canada.

In 2012-13, sales amounted to $1,332.10for every Yukoner.

Sales were also high across the North - at $954.40per capitain the N.W.T. and Nunavut.

Newfoundland and Labrador actually had the second highest sales in the country at$981.40per capita.

Overall, Canadians bought $733.70 of alcohol per capita.

StatisticsCanada says the Yukon numbers are heavily influenced by the hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting a territory that only has a population of just under 37,000people.

Beer was tops in sales for Yukon and Nunavut, while spirits narrowly edged out beer in N.W.T.
