Greetham'sinvention manages household radon through a centralized system that's moreenergy efficient and user-friendly. The proposal beat out 27 others to win the award. In April, Greentham was named one of four finalists who each received a $10,000 prize.

The next step is getting the device ready for stores.

"That market is ready for it. We have the solution for it. We've spoken to the industry inEurope, U.S. and Canada, to identify the requirements, or requests, from the industry, to then design the system here in Whitehorse," Greentham said.

Greetham says his system will be ready for retail by January, 2016. He says it will sell for under $200.
