Travel Yukon turns attention to fat-tire cycling in latest promotion

Travel Yukon contributed $15,000 in funding for thepromotional video, released three days ago, that shows people cycling on Bennett Lake, in the southern part of the territory,and trails by the nearby community ofCarcross.

Boreale Biking, which offers rentals of fat tire bikes, worked with Union Production to make the video. DavidPharand of BorealeBiking said he isexcited about the government's decision to highlight the practice, saying that the market is growing.

Last year, according to Pharand, only about a half-dozen people travelled to the Yukon specifically to ride the bikes.

"That was with no marketing," he said. "This year, it's just beginning, and we've already doubled that."
