Three people died and three others were injured inseparate crashes on Highway 101 in Kings County over the long weekend.

Three people died and three others were injured inseparate crashes in Kings County over the Thanksgiving weekend.

According to an RCMPnews release, emergency crewswere calledto a five-vehicle collision at 8:36 a.m. AT on Saturday on Highway 101 in Wolfville, N.S. Police say a transport truck travelling east struck four vehicles that were stopped for construction on the highway.

Two occupants of an SUV, a 62-year-old woman and a child from East Kingston, were pronounceddead at the scene. A third occupant of the vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, was transportedto hospital by LifeFlight with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say no other injuries were reported.

Emergency personnelresponded Monday at 3:50 p.m. to another collision on Highway 101 in Berwick involving a westbound SUV and an eastbound pickup truck. A38-year-old Middleton man,the driver and sole occupant of theSUV,was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

The 49-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger of the pickup were takentohospital by ambulancewith non-life-threatening injuries.

Highway 101 was closed for several hours after both collisions. Investigations into the crashes are ongoing.
