Three men and one womanface numerous drug trafficking charges after a drug bust in the Halifax area early Thursday morning, police say.

Members of the RCMP and Halifax Regional Police integrated drug unit searched a home on Lylewood Drive in Middle Sackville at 6 a.m. Thursday.

They seized about 10 grams of cocaine, 44 vials of GHB, sometimes known asa date rape drug, about 100 grams of marijuana, a small amount of ecstasy and hydromorphone, a derivative of morphine.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said it is unusual to seize so much of GHB.

"It's been very unusual during our searches that we've come across this. So, to get 44 vials off the street, this is a substantial seizure by the drug unit," he said. "It's got to put a warning out to people who are downtown at the bar scene that this drug seems to be resurfacing again and to be very careful with your drinks, make sure your drinks stay with you at all times. Don't leave them unattended."

The side-effects of GBH include delusions, sedation, unconsciousness, difficulty thinking and slurred speech, Taplin said.

"It's a very dangerous drug," he said.

Each vial of GBH contains five millilitres, Taplin said, and a whole vial would be poured into a drink.

Police also seized a large amount of cash, scales, packaging and other drug paraphernalia.

Two of the men will appear in Dartmouth provincial court Thursday on the charges, Taplin said. The third man and the woman were released and will appear in court at a later date.
