Anthony Bourdain to open Devour! Food Film Fest in Wolfville

An Emmy-award winning television host will be the special guest during the opening night of Devour! The Food Film Fest on Nov. 12 in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia.

Celebrity chef, writerand world-travelling TV host Anthony Bourdain is coming to the Annapolis Valley in November.

The Emmy-award winning televisionhost will be the special guest during the opening night of Devour! The Food Film Fest on Nov. 12 in Wolfville, N.S.

Bourdain, whoseliberal use of profanity and sarcasmhas earned him a bit of a bad boy reputation, isknown for his fondness ofalcohol and his bold consumptionof exotic dishes around the world.

Some of the odd foods Bourdain has sampled in his travels include sheep testicles, ant eggsand a raw seal eyeball as part of a traditional Inuitseal hunt.

"We are thrilled that an international writer, journalist and culinary personality like Anthony Bourdain wants to be part ofDevour!"said Michael Howell, the executive director ofDevour! The Food Film Fest.

Devour! is a five-dayinternational festival celebrating food on film and the culture of food. The opening gala will take place in the Fountain Commons at Acadia University.

Bourdainis currently the host of CNN's Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown and is ajudge onABC's The Taste,as well as Anthony Bourdain: No ReservationsandThe Layover on the Travel Channel.

Bourdain is also a New York Times bestselling author whose bookKitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbellypropelled him to international stardom.

Lia Rinaldo, the managing director of Devour!,saidBourdainselected his "all-time favourite food film"to open the festivalEat Drink Man Woman, directed by Ang Lee.

"He has personally selected this film, will participate in an audience Q&A session afterwards and then conclude the night by hosting a one-hour book signing at theDevour! opening gala post-reception," she said.
