LisaArmoyan will receive$13.4 million from her ex-husbandVrege Armoyanin a divorce settlement that took six years to work its way through the legal system.

Vrege Armoyan was a property developer in Halifaxand brother to prominent Nova Scotia developer George Armoyan.

The divorce settlement came after a long battle in Florida and Nova Scotia courts.

"We have resolved literally everything between the parties. Every aspect criminal, civil, sanctions, fines all of it is done," said Brad Edwards of Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos and Lehrman, P.L., the Florida law firm acting on behalf of Lisa Armoyan.

The Armoyans havethree adult children. Two of them attend universityin the United States.

Lisa Armoyan re-married this year and continues to live in Florida.

Vrege Armoyan moved to Lebanon before a Nova Scotia court judge sentenced him to four years in prison for contempt of court. That was after he evaded a $1.7 million child-support order. Armoyan won't have to serve the prison time.

"The fact that it was in the best interests of the children to do so made for a compelling argument that we were able to make to the courts, and those orders will be vacated as part of the settlement," Edwards said.

Lisa Armoyan's lawyer in Halifax is Leigh Davis.

She confirmed to CBC the settlement is "global" and "satisfies all outstanding issues,"including the child support amount leviedby the Nova Scotia court.

Under the agreement, neither of the previously warring spouses can comment on the terms of the settlement.

But CBC News has learned the multimillion-dollarlump sum payment is only one component of the secret settlement.

Edwards says it took a lot of creativity and hard work by lawyers and other professionals to reach this conclusion.

"A lot of good people making significant concessions to make it happen. That's on both sides of this," he said.
