Boy, 16, charged in Cape Breton killing

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a Sydney teen with second- degree murder of a Glace Bay girl.

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a a teenaged boy from Sydney with second- degree murder of a Glace Bay girl.

The young offender, 16,isbeing heldat the Cape Breton Correctional Centreuntil he appears incourt on Monday.

He also faces charges of uttering death threats, assault, possession of a weapon and several breaches of probation and undertakings.

Police were called to a home on Williams Street in Whitney Pier at about 6 p.m. on Friday. The victim, 17,was pronounced dead at the scene and the suspect was taken into custody.

The accused and the victim knew each other, police said.

The victim'sname and cause of death have not been made public.
