Cape Breton woman dead, man in custody

Cape Breton regional police are investigating the death of a young woman in Sydney Friday evening.

Police were called to a home on Williams Street in Whitney Pierat about6 p.m.

Neighbours said the 17-year-old woman is from the area and was reportedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend.

Police took a man into custody last night.

"We do have somebody here at the station, a possible suspect if it turns out to be a homicide. Also some witnesses here to interview right now," said Staff Sgt. Paul Muise.

Theinvestigation continues andthe cause of death will be released following an autopsy.
