3 people escape after car plunges into Lake Banook

Three people escaped serious injury when the car they were in veered off the road and ended up in Lake Banookin Dartmouth on Saturday morning.

Three people escaped serious injury when the car they were in veered off the road and ended up in Lake Banookin Dartmouth, N.S., on Saturday morning.

Images of the incident appear to show that the car was on Prince Albert Road when it swerved through a fence and into the lake in the vicinity of the Senobe Aquatic Club.

District fire Chief Rob Hebbsaid at the scene that the three occupants of the car were able to extricate themselves from thecar before it went under.

Hebb said he did not believe anyone had beentaken to hospital.

The vehicle wasremoved from the water before noon,he said.

Police say the driver, a22-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene and charged with impaired driving.
