Chelsea Amber receives Juno, ANSMA and ECMA nominations

Halifax musician Chelsea Amber is having one of the most memorable moments of her career.

In a 48-hour span, Amber was nominated for a Juno Award, two East Coast MusicAwards and an African NovaScotianMusic Association Award.

Receiving so many nominations in such a short period of time is uncommon.

The first nomination came when the Juno nominees were announced on Jan.27. While waiting to hear if she was nominated, Amberaccidentally missed her name being called.

I heard them start to say the c-hand I was holding my iPad and I got kind of excited 'cause it sounded like they were about to say my name and then Iaccidentallyhit the home button,so I verified [it]and thats when the dancing started, she said.

I immediately posted a video on my Facebook wall of my happy dance.

That same morning, she was also notifiedby the African NovaScotianMusic Association (ANSMA) of her nomination for Artistof the Year.

It was very exciting and I had to keep it a secret for a week, said Amber with a laugh.

Less then 24 hours after the Juno andANSMAnominations, Ambers name was announced again. This time around, shepicked up two East Coast Music Award nominations for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and Gospel Recording of the Year.

Amber isn't concerned with whether she wins any awards.

If I win any, it will just be icing on the cake, but Im very happy with the cake," she said.

TheANSMAAwards will be handed outMarch 7at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax.

The Juno Awards take place in Hamilton, Ont., during the weekend of March 1415.

The East Coast Music Awards take place on April 9at the JackByrneArena inTorbay, Newfoundland.
