N.S. reports 1 new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday

Nova Scotia reported one new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the province's active caseload to 31.

The new case is in the western zone and is a close contact of a previously reported case.

Two people are in hospital with the virus, including one who is in intensive care.

Labs processed 1,832 COVID-19 tests on Monday.

Nova Scotia will move to Phase 4 of its reopening plan on Wednesday, which is contingent upon 75 per cent of residents receiving one dose of a vaccine.

Dr. Robert Strang, the chief medical officer of health, has said the province hit the75 per centmilestone last Wednesday, a figure that includesvaccinated Armed Forces members who have not yet been added to the provincial database.

According to the provincial dashboard, as of Tuesday, 42.8 per cent of Nova Scotians have received a second dose.

A walk-in vaccination clinic will be availableuntil Fridayat the Halifax Convention Centre.

People aged 18 and up can get a first or second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the clinic, which will beopen Tuesday to Friday, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It is recommended people wait a minimum of 28 days between doses.

Atlantic Canada case numbers

• New Brunswick has had no new cases for a week now, and has four active cases.
• Newfoundland and Labradorreported no new cases Tuesday on land, buthas 19cases connected to two ships anchored in Conception Bay. Including those, the province has 20 active cases.
• Prince Edward Island has no new or active cases.
