Province won't release COVID-19 numbers or give vaccines over holiday weekend

Nova Scotia's Department of Health and Wellnessis taking a break from reportingCOVID-19 case numbers until after the holiday weekend, unless there are"unusual circumstances."

There will be no data updates or news releases on New Year's Day, Saturday or Sunday.

On Monday, Jan. 4, data will once again be updated and the province will send out a news release.

The province will also not be administering any COVID-19 vaccines over the holiday weekend, according to an email from Dan Harrison, the director of communications for the Department of Health and Wellness.

He said 3,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine have arrived. This is the second vaccine to be approved in Canada.

Some COVID-19 assessment centres will remain open on Jan. 1, while others will be closed. VisitNova Scotia Health's websitefor a full list of locations and operating hours.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority said it will still release exposure notices ifnecessary.The full list of potential exposure sites can be found here.

The province also took a reporting break over the Christmas weekend and provided a breakdown of case data on Monday.There were 13 new cases identified between Dec. 24 and Dec. 27

3 new cases as of Dec. 31

As ofDec. 31, there are three new cases of COVID-19 in the province amid 22active cases. One person is in hospital.

Starting on Monday, restaurants and bars in the Halifax Regional Municipality and Hants County areas are alsoallowed toreopen for dine-in service.
