Dalhousie University seeks new dentistry dean

Dalhousie University is in the process of finding a new dean for its dentistry school.

Dr. Thomas Boran, who has held the position since July 2008, is stepping down from the job in June 2017.

In an emailTuesdayto the Dalhousie community, universityprovost Carolyn Wattersthanked Boran for the work he did during his tenure, including implementingoutreach and access-to-care programs in Labrador and the North End Community Health Centre in Halifax.

Boran was alsoat the helm of the dentistry school during the Facebook scandal that erupted in late 2014.A later report found the faculty of dentistry hadpermitted a culture of "sexism, misogyny, homophobia and racism."

He made $208,088 in 2014-2015, according to compensation disclosure records.
