Dartmouth beach closed after swimmers get sick

A beach at Lake Banook in Dartmouth, N.S., was closed Tuesday after lifeguards and swimmers got sick.

Birch Cove Beach is shut while Halifax Regional Municipality tests the water. The city saidlifeguard staff and some program participants have reported flu-like symptoms and HRM closed the beach as a precaution.

The results should be back by the end of the week, the city said.It will decide about re-opening the beach then.
