Police arrest Dartmouth man in connection with overdose

Police are "attempting to determine any involvement he may have had in the medical issues stemming from a drug overdose that sent a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries," said Staff Sgt. Greg Mason.

Halifax Regional Police arrested a 23-year-old Dartmouth man on Friday in connection with a drug overdose earlier in the day.

Police are "attempting to determine any involvement he may have had in the medical issues stemming from a drug overdose that sent a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries," said Staff Sgt. Greg Mason.

The overdose victim, a 24-year-old man, was taken from Dartmouth's Horizon Court to hospital in critical condition at 1:20 a.m. on New Year's Day.

They say the man was suffering from medical issues that may have been caused by drugs.

He remains in hospital and police say his condition is life-threatening.

Police are continuing to investigate what happened. They haven't said what, if anything, they intend to charge the 23-year-old man with.
