Dartmouth home invasion sends 75-year-old man to hospital

A 75-year-old man remains in hospital after he and his wife awoke Sunday to a pair of intruders in their home.

Suspects stole several firearms from the home, police say

A 75-year-old man remains inhospital after he and his wife awoke Sunday to a pair of intruders in their home.

Halifax Regional Police were called to a home on Bonita Drive in Dartmouth at 2:38 a.m. for a break and enter in progress.

Police say the victim was woken up by the commotion caused by two male suspects who had broken in. He confronted the pair and was hit over the head.

The man is expected to survive but suffered injuries to his head and face.

The victim's wife was not injured.

Police say the suspects stole several firearms and ran away from the scene.

One of the suspects is described as white, about six feet tall and was wearing a black hoodie, jeans and a blue/grey bandana over his face. The second suspect is described as white, slightly shorter than the other suspect and was also wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

The Forensic Identification Section and the Integrated General Investigative Section investigators are currently continuing the investigation.
