Deadly crash closes part of Highway 104

Two peopleare dead andthree injuredafter ahead-on collision on Nova Scotia's Highway 104Monday morning.

A westboundtractor-trailer collided with a carnear French River, east of New Glasgow, at about 7:30 a.m.

RCMP said it appears the eastbound car was passing another vehicle or had just passed when it struckthe truck. Athree-wheeled Harley Davidsonmotorcycle that wasbehind the truck lost control while trying to avoid the crash.

One person in the car and one person on the motorcycle died.

RCMP continue to investigate the crash and say sunlight in the eyes of the drivers could have been a contributing factor. CBC reporter Kevin Harvey said it was somewhat foggy at the timebut it was bright because thesun was coming up.

The highwaywas scattered with debris. The road between exits 27 and 29 was closed and trafficwas being rerouted on Trunk 4.

There have been severalfatal crasheson the highway in the past week.

"We've gone many, many years of course without any incidents in this location and now of course we've had within probably about a 10-kilometre zone three very serious accidents or collisions in the last week," said RCMP Cpl. Andrew Joyce.

It happened nearthe site of a collision on Wednesday that killed the drivers of a tanker truck and a pickup truck.
