Denny rehires lawyer, case put over to summer

A man accused of killing prominent man in Halifax's gay community has rehired his lawyer a month after firing him in court.

A man accused of killing a prominent man in Halifaxs gay community has rehired his lawyer a month after firing him in court.

Andre Noel Denny, 33, appeared in provincial court Tuesday. Hes charged with second degree murder in the beating death of Raymond Taavel.

In February, Denny accused his lawyer, Don Murray, of showing up at a meeting at the East Coast Forensic Hospital with a knife. He fired Murray, saying their trust was broken.

Murray said he met with Denny and Dennys family Monday, and agreed to take the case once again.

The dates of Dennys preliminary inquiry have now been set for July 8 10.
