Clayton Developments Ltd. is hoping to get a final stamp of approval for four apartment buildings in the Clayton Park West area of Halifax.

Chebucto Community Council meets Tuesday to discuss the development proposal, which would be 12-storeys each and have a maximum of 400 units or 800 people.

The plans include tennis courts, a park area and a two-storey clubhouse that could include a pool, a gym, a library or a ballroom.

Mary Wile, the councillor for the area, said the developer wants to cater to the senior citizens they hope to attract.

"These four apartment buildings will have retail businessesthe bottom floorsthat will make it easier for the seniors to be able to do their shopping or hair dressers or dentists or whatever they would like to have," she said.

"The idea to make it a community within itself and they would have these amenities there for them and that the residents of those buildings will be able to join in and have a clubhouse."

The buildings will be close to the newly-constructed Washmill Lake Court underpass that creates a third entrance into Bayers Lake Business Park.

Clayton Developments Ltd. is hoping to begin construction in the fall.
